• Cockroaches are dioecious i.e, their sexes are separate, i.e., male and female reproductive organs occur in different individuals.

• Male and female cockroaches show sexual dimorphism (e.g., males have anal styles, females do not).

• Fertilisation is internal, and females produce oothecae (egg cases).

• Development is paurometabolous type, i.e., there is development through nymphal stages. Cockroaches undergo 13 times moulting to reach the adult forms.

• Compound eyes in cockroaches help in mosaic vision which has more sensitivity but overall resolution is less.

• Biting and chewing type of mouth parts are present which comprise of a labrum, a labium, a pair of maxilla, a pair of mandibles and hypopharynx. Mandibles has both grinding and incising regions on them.
